Condé Nast Announces Top Travel Agents for 2013 Jul 17th 2013, 12:32
Condé Nast Traveler has announced Wendy Perrin's annual list of top agents by specialty. The magazine extolled the 146 specialists on its 2013 list for their expertise in the following destinations and travel types: North American and the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Ocean, Asia, Pacific Nations, Cruises, Special Interest (such as family travel and business travel), Sports and Adventure (such as fly-fishing, golf and skiing), and Hard-to-Get Tickets, Seats and Guides.
These agents “have the expertise and clout to get you the rooms with the best views and the savviest English-speaking guides, not to mention VIP perks,” Perrin wrote on the Condé Nast website in a letter preceding the list.
The site allows users to click a link for each specialist for a profile of that agent, as well as contact information. For example, Michelle Glass, an Alaska expert at Entrée Alaska, will “have you tracking wolves with a wolf biologist, driving a team of dogs along the famed Iditarod route, where you might check out the Northern Lights….,” according to her profile. And Anthony Bay, a France specialist at Anthony Bay’s Europe, “can design a ne plus ultra itinerary that incorporates everything from hidden-gem vineyards to the most authentic regional festivals to lunch at Club 55 on Pampelonne Beach in St-Tropez,” the article says.
Ironically, Perrin posted the list one day after Woman’s Day posted an article on its website that knocks agents and has incited a flurry of comments by agents, agency groups and suppliers defending the travel agent community.
